Rescue Rehome Program (Surrendered Animals) Giving Reptiles a Second Chance — The Right Way

Raging Reptiles receives 6–9 surrendered reptiles and amphibians every month from families who can no longer provide the care their pet needs. These animals come from many different situations—moves, changing schedules, unexpected costs, or simply realizing how complex reptile care can be.

We don’t shame people for needing help.
Our mission is to make sure every animal that comes through our doors is treated with respect, evaluated properly, and placed into the best possible future.

Support the Rescue Rehome Program

Surrendered animals often arrive needing supplies, time, and sometimes medical attention. If you’d like to support this mission, you can help by:

  • donating approved supplies

  • sponsoring a rescued animal

  • booking an educational program through our team

Every bit of support helps us continue giving these animals a second chance

What Happens When an Animal Is Surrendered?

Every surrendered animal goes through a structured intake process to keep them safe and set them up for success:

Step 1 — Intake & Ownership Transfer
All surrendered animals require a signed Surrender Agreement confirming the animal is being permanently surrendered to Raging Reptiles.

Step 2 — Health & Condition Evaluation
We assess overall condition, hydration, weight, behavior, feeding response, and enclosure needs. Some animals arrive healthy—others need rehabilitation.

Step 3 — Care Plan & Next Steps
Once evaluated, the animal may become:

  • A permanent resident in our educational exhibits

  • A Rescue Rehome candidate (available for adoption through our program)

  • A rehabilitation case requiring additional time, care, or veterinary support before placement

Rescue Rehome Adoption Packages (Animal + Setup + Class)

We have been approved to rehabilitate and rehome surrendered animals into qualified homes.

But we do it differently than a typical “buy a pet” experience.

Our Rescue Rehome Program is designed to prevent repeat surrenders by making sure every adopter starts correctly—with the right equipment and real education.

Every Rescue Rehome Package Includes:

✅ 1) The Animal
A surrendered reptile or amphibian that has been evaluated for health and temperament.

✅ 2) Proper Enclosure / Habitat Setup
Appropriately sized housing based on species needs.

✅ 3) Correct Substrate
Selected for safety, hygiene, and the animal’s natural behavior.

✅ 4) Supplies That Apply to That Species
Depending on the animal, your package may also include:

  • heat source & thermostat (when needed)

  • UVB lighting (when required)

  • hides, water dish, enrichment items

  • feeding supplies and starter guidance

✅ 5) A Required “Adopt-and-Learn” Class
Every Rescue Rehome adoption includes a structured class with a Raging Reptiles educator covering:

  • habitat setup (temperature / humidity / lighting)

  • feeding schedule and nutrition

  • safe handling and stress reduction

  • cleaning and maintenance

  • common mistakes and how to avoid them

  • what to do if the animal stops eating or behaves differently

This isn’t just an adoption—it’s a training program that protects the animal and sets you up for success.

Why We Require Education With Every Adoption

Why We Require Education With Every Adoption

Many surrendered reptiles were originally purchased without proper guidance, and improper setups can lead to stress, illness, and shortened lifespans.

Our Rescue Rehome Program exists to fix that.

We want every animal leaving our facility to go into a home that is prepared, educated, and committed to doing it right.

Rescue animals become available as they complete evaluation and care.

📍 Visit our storefront to see which animals are currently eligible for rehome, or contact us to learn what may be available soon.

Please note: Not every surrendered animal will be eligible for rehoming immediately. Some require additional care time before placement.

Need to Surrender an Animal?

Why We Require Education With Every Adoption

Interested in Adopting a Rescue?

If you are unable to continue caring for your reptile or amphibian, we may be able to help.

To surrender an animal, you must:

  • complete our surrender intake process

  • sign our Surrender Agreement

  • provide honest history (diet, behavior, setup, known health issues)

Important: Surrendered animals are permanently transferred to Raging Reptiles. Once surrendered, the original owner no longer has rights to the animal.
