FAQs

Who names our reptiles?

The children do!  As we introduce new reptiles into the collection, we let the children name them.  Of course, we have a final veto.  However, if we like the name, we keep it.  :-)  This also helps them to remember the animal if ever they see it again.

Where do we get our handlers?

As spring time begins, we run adds looking for young bright college grads or students whos major's are Biology or Herpetology.  We have a strict hiring process that guarantees:

  1. Handlers know what they are doing.
  2. Are comfortable working in crowds.
  3. Are comfortable and experienced working with lots of children and reptiles.
  4. And!  have a high energy level to keep the show flowing.

We also have test centers located in each city that the potential handlers go to and are evaluated by center directors to help insure that you are getting the most value for your dollar!

If you are interested in becoming a test center, feel free to e-mail us at info@ragingreptiles.com

Do we have insurance?

Uh, Yes!  All though, most schools provide insurance for guest speakers and visitors, we believe you can never have enough insurance.

Do we have venomous reptiles?

No, we do not carry venomous reptiles.  We believe there are enough beautiful reptiles out there that the kids can get a great education without any excessive risk.

How old do the children have to be?

There is really no age limit.  We've done shows for children as young as 1 year.  Just keep in mind these shows will be shorter.  We do offer a "Colors" theme for the younger children.

Do you have to provide anything for mobile show set-up?

We don't really require anthing for set-up of our standard 1 hour show.  A table to work from would be nice, but not a necessity.  All we ask is that the area is large enough that the kids can sit in rows wide enough for handlers to walk in between.

What area are we based out of?

We are headquartered in Virginia however we perform shows from Pennsylvania to Virginia.

Can the children touch the animals?

Yes, the children touch the animals, In fact we encourage it.  We gear each show towards the average age of our audience, and have question / answering periods through out.  Those that answer questions correctly get to hold the animals!  This helps kids to internalize their learning and keeps their attention focused on the show.

What does snake poop look like?

I guess you'll just have to book a show to find out.  :-)
